Michael Evans

I am a qualified Notary Public with over thirty five years experience. As a notary, I am authorised to prepare, certify and authenticate documentation for use in all countries of the world. Documents which could normally in this country be certified by a solicitor often require notarising for use overseas where the Notary Public is recognised as the holder of an internationally recognised public office.

I carry out a variety of notarial services both for individuals and commercial clients for use overseas including preparation and attestation of powers of attorney, affidavits and declarations, certification of copies of documents, certificates and identity papers, certification of facts relating to individuals and companies and witnessing signatures on a variety of documents including property sales and purchases, authorisations for children to travel and sponsorship declarations.

I also arrange for ‘legalisation’ of documents which is required by some countries in addition to notarisation. This involves me arranging for the issue of an ‘apostille’ by our Foreign & Commonwealth Office and, in some cases, certification by the embassy of the country concerned.

I enjoy the variety of notarial work which enables me to help both commercial and private clients in fields unfamiliar to them and also leads me to meeting people from a wide range of countries.

My practice is regulated by the Faculty Office of the Archbishop of Canterbury and I am a member of the notaries’ professional body, The Notaries Society.

I qualified as a solicitor in London before moving to Somerset in 1974 and spending the large part of my career acting primarily for major regional and national housebuilders. Now, having retired some years ago as a solicitor, I carry on my notarial practice operating mainly from my home and Chubb Bulleid’s offices.

My two children live in Street and a good part of my spare time is taken up with four young grandchildren.
