Nicola Grant
LITIGATION EXECUTIVE (GCILEx)

I was born and raised in Cornwall and moved to Somerset over 20 years ago after a brief period living abroad.

I have previously worked in local government as a Trading Standards Enforcement Officer and a Licensing Officer, before deciding on a career change and pursuing a new career in law. I have worked in law firms locally, initially as a legal secretary and more recently a legal assistant at Porter Dodson in Taunton, which is where I got the litigation bug!  I studied alongside working full-time for a number of years to achieve my aim of becoming a Chartered Legal Executive.

I joined Chubb Bulleid in June 2017 and am now a Graduate of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (GCILEx) and a Litigation Executive, aiming towards gaining Fellowship in 2019. I have a full workload of all types of dispute resolution, including property litigation, probate and inheritance disputes, debt recovery and contractual disputes.  I also deal with employment law matters.

I have a “no nonsense” approach to litigation and will always try and find the most effective, cost-efficient and timely solution to disputes, whether that be by mediation, negotiation or formal court proceedings as a last resort.

Outside work, I enjoy walking with my partner and two dogs. I have recently taken up yoga, both for relaxation and general fitness purposes.

My Favourites.

Favourite season – Summer. Everything seems better when the sun is shining.  The days are longer, there is more time to get things done and, importantly, Somerset cider tastes better in the sunshine!

Dogs or cats – Dogs. I have two dogs, both quite elderly these days but still active and always up for a walk.  I would be lost without them.

Pub or restaurant – Pub. Somerset is blessed with so many lovely country pubs, I couldn’t possibly answer any other way!

Walk v run – Walk. I did try running and did a number of charity 10k runs in the hope I’d start to love it.  I didn’t!

Favourite sport (to watch) – Formula 1. Having watched pretty much every race for almost 10 years now, I am a convert to the sport.  I have yet to watch a live race, although I have walked the tracks in Monaco and Abu Dhabi.  I hope to achieve my dream of attending a full race weekend (preferably Singapore or Azerbaijan) in the next couple of years.
