A poll recently commissioned by the charity will-writing campaign Will Aid has revealed that two thirds of people either have not made a will or have a will which is out of date.

The survey of more than 2,000 adults in the UK found that 57 per cent of them had never made a will. A further 10 per cent said that their most recent will no longer reflected their current circumstances or wishes.

The most common reason people gave for not making a will was that they believed they did not have anything worth leaving. Other reasons were not finding the time, feeling uncomfortable thinking about death, the cost and the perceived complexity of the process.

Of those who had made a will, reasons for doing so included having children, buying a house, and hearing stories about people who had died without making a will.
