Melanie Smith

I am an experienced commercial property solicitor based in our Street and Taunton offices.  I qualified as a solicitor in 2016 and have worked at two Taunton based firms prior to joining Chubb Bulleid in 2025.

I enjoy dealing with a variety of commercial property transactions, with a particular focus on investment acquisitions and disposals as well as landlord and tenant matters. I also provide property support to colleagues acting on corporate transactions. Some examples of my recent experience include work relating to the acquisition of retail shopping centres involving many occupational tenants and providing property advice relating to the acquisition of care homes.

I have experience acting for private individuals, limited companies, charities, and pension funds.

I live in Taunton with my husband, young son, and mature springer spaniel x chocolate Labrador. I enjoy walking in the lovely Somerset countryside, reading and catching up with friends in my spare time.
