Clare Bessant-Nicholls
SOLICITOR

“I joined Chubb Bulleid in November 2022 as a solicitor in the residential conveyancing department and I am based in the Wells office.

After graduating from Cardiff University with a degree in English in 1990, I spent a year in Exeter studying for a post-graduate diploma in publishing followed by eight years working for a literary agency in London.  A growing interest in publishing contracts and copyright led to a law conversion course at the College of Law in London and a training contract in Richmond.

I qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and since then I have specialised in all aspects of residential conveyancing and have worked in a variety of high street firms both in London and in the South West.  Between 2008 and 2011, I had the unique experience of living and practising on Sark in the Channel Islands – an island with a population of around 500 and no cars – where I carried out a mixture of local property and offshore work.

Since 2019 I have lived in Wells with my husband – also a solicitor with another local firm – and my teenage daughter who is a musician and a keen runner.

Much of my spare time is spent driving my daughter to various race venues but I also enjoy reading, going to the theatre and exploring Somerset which, although it lacks the mountains of my native Wales, has its own beauty.”
